Curious about the world, one ride at a time.
Curious about the world, one ride at a time.

It has been a little quiet here lately.

I’m still active in coaching, but as we all know, sometimes life simply happens. And quite a lot has happened in mine.

At the end of March, we welcomed a little French Bulldog into our home. Her name is Turbo. You may wonder why we called her Turbo, originally she had a different name but her personality sparked that name. Once the switch is one is running around like crazy, the Turbo switch effect.

She was just four months old when she joined us, and now, at almost 11 months, it’s wonderful to see how much she has grown and become part of our lives.

While Turbo was discovering her new home and surroundings, we were discovering her too: her needs, her curiosity, and the little characteristics that make her uniquely her.

What fascinates me most is watching her personality unfold.

Turbo is incredibly affectionate and loves being close to us, yet she also knows when she wants her own space. I love that balance. She is wonderfully social too, greeting almost everyone she meets with the openness and curiosity.

Watching her has made me think about growth and development in a different way.

We often associate growth with big changes: achieving a goal, starting a new career, or finally mastering something we have been working toward. But when I look at her, I’m reminded that growth often happens much more quietly.

Every day, she learns something new. She becomes a little more comfortable with something that once felt unfamiliar. Some days bring big steps forward, while others may feel like a step backwards. And that’s okay.

Growth isn’t a straight line.

Perhaps we sometimes forget this when it comes to ourselves. We expect ourselves to know what to do, make the right decisions, improve quickly, and keep moving forward. But what if we approached our own growth with the same patience we naturally give to someone who is still learning?

We might notice the small improvements.

Celebrate progress.

Make room for mistakes.

And perhaps most importantly, stay curious.

Watching her also reminds me that growth doesn’t necessarily mean becoming someone completely different. As she grows, more and more of her personality is emerging.

Perhaps our own development is similar.

Sometimes growth is simply about becoming more comfortable with who we already are, understanding what we need, finding our own balance, and having the courage to explore the world in our own way.

A little more courage.

A little more trust.

A little more understanding.

One experience at a time.

Whether you’re growing as a leader, navigating a career change, adapting to a new environment, or simply growing as a person, you don’t need to have everything figured out today.

Sometimes growth is simply taking the next small step.

And when you pause and look back, you might be surprised by just how far you’ve come.

So perhaps the question isn’t, “Am I there yet?”

Maybe it’s simply, “What am I learning along the way?”

With love & light, Sabine

First day with our precious girl
