Being

Writer's picture: Sabine SchoellhornSabine Schoellhorn

What is my essence? I am lately thinking about what my being is and what impact I am making to my surroundings.

We are all living in a co-existence with each other in this world. Even in a one-time encounter with someone, we can leave an impression, inspire and enrichen each others live.

I still remember the lovely girl me and my friend meet on the train and we all sung "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" together. It was heartwarming for me and I still remember the beautiful smile and happiness on the girls face. And I noticed how positively encouraging the atmosphere changed around us, it was a pact train going to a fireworks event. Everyone was already happy but this has lifted people's mood and I could feel a change in energy. It was never planned but it was in a moment of true being that my friend and I created this beautiful connection. Nothing mattered, our singing performance or what people might think.

Being in the moment and fully present you never know what encounters happen and how they are lifting your energy and your mood towards more. Sometimes at work I have to stop for a moment and have to remind myself being when I am absolved in my work. A small word, a smile to a colleague can make all the difference when being busy in coming up with new ideas at work.

In Japan we value harmony and many words may be unspoken and we refer to it as "reading the air". But I learnt that even without saying words, you can tell from the others actions and expressions of what is going on. It's not always easy to understand but being present and feeling into what's going on observing the other being you get the idea. I really notice the importance of being present and yourself in any given moment. Tell what you feel and what you think, don't hide yourself. It takes courage to be your true self sometimes but embrace every moment of it. You will feel more liberated compared to when you need to hide yourself or not showing your true self to others. Embrace all of yourself in any given moment!

I can only tell from experience when I am hiding myself, it feels like cutting your wings and restricting yourself to a point where you are not sure who you are anymore. Don't let you get down that rabbit hole but embrace your unique self every day. Surround yourself with people who you love and you feel loved, be in a environment where you can shine your true colors and you are valued for it. Choosing your surroundings makes a true difference.

If you feel you cannot be yourself, then check that environment first. Also check in with your feelings. Please remember that small changes can have an impact too, it's not always the big things we do. See your progress in getting out of your shell and fly freely as yourself in this world. No one will ever be like you, let's embrace each others strengths and uniqueness. Be you! Like the picture let the colors shine through any given moment and through the clouds.

With lots of love & light, Sabine
