I am starting my blog today by asking you some questions:

・What are your telling yourself every day?

・Have you noticed what kind of words you are using to address your inner self?

・Are there some occurring topics that are spinning thoughts in your head?

I have a very active mind and have many thoughts passing my mind every day.  Lately I have been trying to be more focused about knowing what I am thinking and what I am telling myself. During my studies I concluded that many of my thoughts are of that nature that are not in my control but impact me in a certain way.

It reminds me of the quote that I have shared in my prior blogs before.

I am replacing feelings with thoughts in that quote.

“Feelings (Thoughts) are much like waves, we can't stop them from coming but we can choose which one to surf.”

- Jonatan Mårtensson -

Let me relate about my thought process with my latest surf experiences:

Lately I have decided to consciously be more focused and present while being in the water. I am super selective and observant about what waves are coming in and which ones I am trying to catch. it helps to save energy and by being more selective I can enjoy the experiences of riding great waves. I am also observing others and make predictions if they can catch a wave or not and lately my observations becoming more accurate. All this happens when my mind is empty, no thoughts are running through. I am just looking and observing my environment. So it’s the same about thoughts for me, noticing which ones to think about and which thoughts to let go of. While in the ocean, my mind starts to think again, but just like waves I let them go, one by one. I focus on the waves or I am using affirmations, repeating positive words that keep my occupied from unproductive thoughts.

I believe that we can choose about what we think about and also how to influence your self-talk as well. I am usually having quite negative thoughts during my surf usually, not happy when I cannot catch a wave, but now I am just accepting and letting go.

Focusing on being more present and observant with an empty mind which truly helped me to focus on the best wave selection of the day.

So when you apply that to your life, is really selecting what kind of thoughts you are focusing on. I wish you an empty mind too, it’s no judgement if you are thinking a lot at all.

It’s funny about when we say to be more “mindful”, but that is implying that our mind is ful(l) rather than being empty and letting thoughts come and go like waves. So give it a thought to either shift your thoughts into something that you want to think about or letting go of those thoughts which you cannot control. Or just observe and be empty is a god way to be creative and let thoughts come to you rather than pushing them by overthinking.

During that process breathe and relax yourself, you may want to focus on your heart when doing so. You will notice that you will feel calmer, you can even put your hand onto your heart, but not necessarily needed.

I wish you a present mind in which you make your conscious choices throughout the day.

Love & Light,

Sabine
